Jude Bellingham to Chelsea transfer: Erling Haaland influence, Liverpool favourites, £130m price

Jude Bellingham continues to draw interest from top clubs across Europe following his performances for England at the World Cup in Qatar.

The 19-year-old has continued his excellent form with Borussia Dortmund this season into the tournament, with the Bundesliga outfit now prepared to sell their star player next summer. Chelsea hold a long-term interest in the talented midfielder, but will have to beat clubs such as Manchester City, Liverpool, PSG and Real Madrid to his signature.

Bellingham's contract with Dortmund expires in June 2025, meaning that next summer will be the best chance for the German club to capitalise on his value before it starts to depreciate as his contract runs down. Liverpool are said to be leading the race for the 19-year-old, but the race remains open until he signs a contract with his new club.

Here, we take a look at the latest surrounding the future of the England star:

Bellingham reveals Erling Haaland messages

The England star has since opened up on Erling Haaland's 'kind' messages with the pair continuing to speak during the World Cup in Qatar.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Bellingham said: "He's [Haaland] always really encouraging. He messaged me before and after the first game just saying, 'good luck' and then he said 'well done', he's a top guy.

"We speak every now and then to be fair. Normally when we're both playing it's more often, but it's normally silly stuff to be honest, just if he sees something that makes him laugh or if I see something that we've talked about before we'll send it to each other. But it's never like every day, checking up on each other, you know."

PSG chairman makes Bellingham comment

The chairman of PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaifi has declared how impressed he has been with Bellingham during the World Cup, saying England are 'lucky' to have him. This will come as a warning of potential interest for Chelsea and other clubs who may be looking at the teenage star.

Al-Khelaifi said: "Amazing player, what a player. Obviously, England are lucky to have him. He's one of the best players in the tournament. You see how it's his first World Cup and he's calm, relaxed and confident, amazing.

"That's what everyone wants, I'm not going to hide it, but I respect his club. If we want to talk to him, we will talk to the club first."

Clubs learn Bellingham price tag

It has been revealed that Borussia Dortmund will demand a fee in the region of €100m and €150million if they are to consider selling their prized asset next summer.

This would mean that only a select few clubs will be able to afford to participate in the race to sign the player, with Liverpool and Chelsea both in the running.

This is according to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, who tweeted on December 5th: "Update #Bellingham : As revealed in our show Transfer Update a few weeks ago and now confirmed: #MUFC has hardly any chance and is out of the race. Liverpool still in. Klopp and #LFC players still pushing. Dortmund would sell him in summer. Price tag: €100m-€150m".

Chelsea dealt blow as favourites revealed

Bellingham has been seen as a perfect signing for a number of clubs, but with his strong relationships with Liverpool stars Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson, it could be Liverpool who sit in pole position.

This has been confirmed by Christian Falk, head of football at German publication Bild, who provided an update on on December 7th.

He tweeted: "TRUE Liverpool are favourites to sign Jude Bellingham (19) from @BVB next Summer. talks are more advanced than with Real Madrid. The Family of Bellingham prefers the Transfer to @LFC @SPORTBILD".
