Jude Bellingham insists England ‘can achieve big things’ in emotional Instagram post after World Cup heartbreak

  • England suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 semi-final defeat to Argentina in the World Cup, denying them a first final since 1966 after a late comeback from their South American opponents.
  • Following the exit, midfielder Jude Bellingham shared an emotional poem titled “The Lions Way”, penned by the team's bus driver, Michael Chandler, which reflected on England's journey throughout the tournament.
  • Bellingham posted the tribute on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the “unbelievable support” from fans both at home and those who travelled, urging the nation to maintain the unity fostered during the campaign, as he insisted “we can achieve big things... and will!”
  • During the match, Anthony Gordon initially put England ahead, but Enzo Fernandez equalised before Lautaro Martinez secured Argentina's victory in stoppage time.
