Jude Bellingham alternatives Liverpool could sign as transfer pursuit takes huge twist

News broke on Tuesday night that Liverpool have pulled out of the race to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund as the Reds seek alternatives.

Liverpool have been linked with a huge number of midfielders in recent weeks with a rebuild on the way in the summer, but one that will seemingly not include Bellingham.

With over £100million needing to be spent to secure the signature of the 19-year-old, club sources suggest the Reds have opted to redraw their plans for the summer with more additions needed in the middle of the pitch.

LATEST REACTION: Live transfer updates after twist in Liverpool's pursuit of Bellingham

FULL STORY: Why Liverpool have stepped away from Jude Bellingham transfer after long pursuit

Here is a look at some of the names in the frame who could possibly help push the Reds back into being Premier League title challengers...

Mason Mount

The Chelsea midfielder is now a priority for Liverpool as they look to capitalise on the ongoing contract issues going on with the West London club.

Mount could reportedly be snapped up for around £50m as he enters the final year of his current deal and is said to be keen on a move to Liverpool.

The 24-year-old is Premier League proven and plays football the way Klopp loves; high energy, strong at pressing and clever on the ball.

Declan Rice

The West Ham captain is a driving force in the middle of the pitch and has been performing in a struggling side down towards the bottom of the table.

It is obvious Rice is extremely talented and would add so much to this Liverpool midfield, but West Ham could be set to demand a fee of around £80m for their skipper.

However, the Hammers are in a relegation fight and would have to slash that price if they are relegated. Links with Liverpool have been tentative up to this point, however.

Alexis Mac Allister

Rumours around Liverpool's pursuit of the World Cup winner have gathered pace in the last week as the Reds look set to rival Manchester United and Chelsea for the 24-year-old.

It is thought the energetic midfielder would cost upwards of £60m, but he could be a key addition to a struggling Reds midfield given what he has already shown during his time in the Premier League.

Matheus Nunes

This is a player who Liverpool came close to signing last summer before his club record move to Wolverhampton Wanderers. It was reported that the Reds were ready to strike a deal to bring the Portugal international in the coming months.

It has since been reported that Wolves have removed a clause in the contract of Nunes to allow him to leave for Liverpool for around £44m, but now the Midlands club are demanding north of £50m.

Ryan Gravenberch

Another name linked with a move to Anfield is Bayern Munich youngster Ryan Gravenberch after his move from Ajax last summer hasn't yet quite worked out.

The Dutchman is struggling for game time at the Allianz and possesses the skillset that Klopp would be looking to bring to his side.

Conor Gallagher

A name linked with Liverpool, but didn't go down too well with the supporters is the Chelsea man struggling for game time at Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher is thought to be valued at around £40m and he showed exactly why during his loan spell at Crystal Palace last term. His ability to press high and with high energy is something Liverpool will be attracted to.
