The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have returned to the US following a short trip to the UK for the Queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations.
The family reportedly left the UK on Sunday ahead of the Platinum Jubilee Pageant, with pictures emerging of Prince Harry leaving an airport in California later that day.
The early departure means the Sussexes missed the finale of the festivities, which saw the Queen make a surprise appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace after the royal standard flag was raised above the residence during the pageant.
In a statement following the appearance, the monarch said she was “humbled and deeply touched” by the platinum jubilee celebrations.
The four-day weekend began with the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Thursday, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday and a Party at the Palace, hosted by the BBC, on Saturday evening.
