Juan Mata reveals mood in Manchester United dressing room following Chelsea draw

Juan Mata has spoken of the disappointment Manchester United players are feeling following their draw with Chelsea in the Premier League.

United saw their ambitions of Champions League qualification hampered on Sunday afternoon as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Maurizo Sarri's side at Old Trafford.

Mata had netted the opener for United on his birthday, but soon saw his side pegged back when Marcos Alonso capitalised on a David de Gea error to draw the score level.

Another win for Chelsea this season will all but condemn United to Europa League football next season, and speaking after the draw Mata spoke of the mood within the dressing room after they failed to win for the eighth time in the last ten games.

"We are disappointed," Mata told Sky Sports. "We wanted to win, we needed to win, so we are disappointed. I think we did a good first half, we scored, we had other good chances.

"It is difficult when you have the top four so close and then you have done an incredible job over the last months to get there. We will try until the end, but obviously we needed to win today, because Chelsea is fighting with us for the position.

"That's how we should start every game at home especially. We put the other team in trouble and we did very well in the first half today especially."
