Juan Foyth provides update on his fitness as he targets first Tottenham appearance of the season

Juan Foyth may soon get his opportunity in the Tottenham team after the club's dismal start to the 2019/20 season.

The Lilywhites are currently ninth in the table, a whooping thirteen points off league leaders Liverpool, following Saturday's embarrassing 3-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The loss at the Amex came a couple of days after the 7-2 humbling against Bayern Munich in the Champions League and they will once again face a battle to qualify for the knockout stages of Europe's top competition.

Foyth actually sustained an ankle injury against Bayern in the Audi Cup at the end of July and he has so far yet to play for the team this season.

However, he has been on the substitutes' bench for the recent games against Colchester United and Brighton.

The defender will be hoping to return to the pitch over the next week as he is currently on Argentina international duty for their games against Germany and Ecuador.

Speaking to the media after arriving in Dortmund for the first friendly, the 21-year-old provided an update on his fitness as he looks to make his first appearance since leaving the pitch on a stretcher at the Allianz Arena in pre-season.

"I’m happy to be back following my injury, I’m completely recovered," he told TyC Sports (via Mundo Albiceleste ). "I rejoined the group two weeks ago.

"We all want to enjoy these friendly matches and to continue being taken into consideration.

"If I play as a central defender, that’s good but I can also play as a full back."

Foyth will have his fingers crossed that he's named in the Spurs starting XI when they return to action against Watford after the international break.
