Juan Foyth injury update issued by Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino is worried over Tottenham defender Juan Foyth after he was taken off on a stretcher against Bayern Munich.

Foyth went down clutching his ankle in the second half of the Audi Cup clash after an off-the-ball incident with Renato Sanches.

The Argentine defender initially hobbled off the field, but was promptly put on a stretcher and carried down the tunnel.

Speaking immediately after the game at the Allianz Arena, Pochettino was giving little away on the severity go the issue.

“I need to talk with the doctor,” said Pochettino. “He twisted his ankle but at the moment I cannot give an update.

“He said his ankle was very painful.”

Foyth once more played at right-back against Bayern Munich, having entered the fray at half-time, replacing Kyle Walker-Peters.

Serge Aurier remains on the injury list, while Kieran Tripper has departed for Atletico Madrid.

Spurs drew 2–2 with Bayern Munich in Bavaria, before winning a penalty shootout.

And Pochettino admits he was happy with his side's showings in the last two days.

"Yes I am very pleased with the performance against Madrid and today against Bayern Munich," he offered. "It was very important to finish in a very good way in this tournament.

“I think we should be very happy with the performance of the first team and the squad to win this tournament.

“It's always better to win then lose and that is why I am happy and there's a lot of positive things we can take from these two games."
