Villarreal already have their sights set on a permanent Juan Foyth deal after making history in the Europa League this week.
The Yellow Submarine defeated Manchester United in the Europa League final on Wednesday after a thrilling penalty shootout, claiming the first title in their history.
And Foyth was key to their win, all-but silencing Marcus Rashford and managing more tackles than any other player on the pitch in Gdansk, despite missing a number of games leading up to the final with injury.
Foyth has been excellent for Villarreal since joining from Spurs on loan ahead of this season, initially playing as a holding midfielder before really coming into his own as a right-back.
The Argentine has barely put a foot wrong while playing as right-back, and after helping Villarreal make history, he now has his eyes on a permanent move.
After missing out on loan star Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa after an impressive season, with Fulham recalling the midfielder ahead of this season, the Yellows were determined not to make the same mistake with Foyth.
As a result, they ensured they had a £12.8million option to buy in Foyth's loan deal so that if he impressed, they could pull the trigger on a permanent deal.
Foyth has done just that, but the Yellow Submarine were hoping to reduce his fee to below the option to buy given Tottenham didn't want the player they thought was a centre-back.
Though, Spurs handed him a new two-year deal before sending him to Villarreal, so they aren't going to reduce his fee, particularly given how much he has impressed during his time in Spain.
Still, Diario AS report Villarreal have marked Foyth's stay as a 'priority', and it's reported Foyth himself 'wants to continue' having enjoyed his first season under Unai Emery,
It's reported Foyth feels he identifies with the team, the local area and the club and would like to remain in place ahead of next season.
He was also a key part of Emery's side as Villarreal defeated United on Wednesday night to lift the Europa League trophy for the first time.
And with Villarreal holding that option to buy, it seems that it could be a matter of time before the deal is indeed made permanent.
