Juan Alegria on Rangers' radar as they look to follow Alfredo Morelos blueprint for striker success

Rangers are reportedly close to agreeing a deal for Colombian striker Juan Diego Alegria.

The 18-year-old hitman is currently playing in Finland with FC Honka but has been on Rangers’ radar for a while, and his arrival could be imminent according to reports in Colombia, with the club expected to try and land their man in January.

Alfredo Morelos’ impact at Ibrox since he arrived from HJK Helsinki for £1million three years ago has been significant, and the Gers hope Alegria can follow the same path to success.

Alegria moved to Finland earlier this year from Deportes Tolima in his homeland.

He's netted four times in ten appearances for FC Honka, who qualified for this season;s Europa League by finishing fourth, but were knocked out by Danish outfit Aarhus.

Steven Gerrard has been made aware of the player, who previously admitted that making a big impression and succeeding in Europe was a priority for him.

"I want to be able to build on the talent I've been given.

"My family has been with me from the start and without their support, I would be nothing. I have discipline and commitment and I am determined to make an impression in European football like other Colombians have done."
