The JP McManus Pro-Am is the first major sporting casualty of the year as organisers have opted to postpone the event until 2022 over Covid-19 worries.
The Adare Manor showcase was originally pinned to take place later this year, but with the deadly virus causing chaos worldwide, organisers have pushed it back.
The Steering Committee today announced that the tournament will now be played over July 4 and 5 in 2022.
World stars such as Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose and Brooks Koepka had all committed to play in the event.
But with over 40,000 expected to attend the sold-out Limerick tournament, organisers hope that it can run smoothly next year.
"We are at all times prioritising public health and are aware that question marks remain about events taking place for much of this year," Pro-Am Chairman Colm Hannon said.
"Spectators make the Pro-Am very special and we feel by moving it to 2022, and making the decision early, gives us the best chance of delivering a world-class tournament in front of a full house next year.
"We would like to sincerely thank our players, volunteers, ticket cap holders and the European Tour for their continued patience and full support of the event."
