Jozo Simunovic to end post Celtic nightmare as he finally finds his next club

Former Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic looks set to end his football exile as he closes in on a move to Turkish side Goztepe.

The Croat was released from his contract at Parkhead a year early and has been without a club ever since.

His last appearance came as he put in a disastrous display in a Europa League defeat to Copenhagen back in February but after close to a year out Simunovic could be ready to return.

Having seen moves to Trabzonspor and Rijeka collapse due to concerns over his troublesome knee, he's in advanced talks over a move to Goztepe.

The Izmir based side are currently sixth in the Super Lig and have former West Brom striker Brown Ideye on their books.

Simunovic helped the Hoops to five titles in a row during the time he spent at the club, following his move from Dinamo Zagreb and picked up three Scottish Cups and three League Cups during his time in Glasgow.

A popular player with the Celtic support, his time at Parkhead was hampered by injuries.
