Joyriders 'lucky to walk away' as fence post goes through windscreen in Fife crash

Joyriders caused thousands of pounds of damage after crashing a stolen Renault Clio into a garden and parked cars in Fife.

The car was driven through a bus stop in Lochgelly before it hit the other vehicles and a fence post, which went through the Clio's windscreen and out the rear window.

A man whose garden was damaged in the incident on Lumphinnans Road, posted pictures of the scene following the crash at 5am on Saturday.

They show the occupants of the car had an extremely narrow escape, as the fence post missed the two front seats by inches.

He said: "It was a silver Clio 2 boys are lucky to have walked away the fence post goes in the front window and out the back window."

The witness said there also could have been dire consequences if it had not hit the bus stop first.

At least £4,000 of damage has been caused to the garden and driveway alone, with three cars damaged.

Two young men were seen walking away from the crash, one of whom was clutching his shoulder.

Police are understood to be investigating the crash, along with a similar joyriding incident on Henderson Street on March 16.
