A joyrider who killed a woman's dog and left her scarred for life in a hit-and-run has been jailed.
Conlan Stakim ploughed into Erin Hastie after stealing his friend’s Vauxhall Astra.
He took the car after seeing it sitting unlocked with the keys on the passenger seat while parked outside a house.
But he lost control on a country road and collided with Erin and her two dogs before fleeing the scene.
Stakim, 24, killed Erin’s Jack Russell, Don, nine, and injured seven-year-old black labrador, Hamish.

He hit Erin, 21, with such force he left her trapped in a hedge and needing to be cut free by firefighters.
She was treated by paramedics at the scene and is still unable to work 16 months after the ordeal.
Ayr Sheriff Court heard she suffers post-traumatic stress disorder and suffered a broken left wrist, two broken bones in her leg, a cut to her liver and a broken ankle in the collision.
Her injuries had to be healed with the help of metal rods, bolts and plates, after Stakim smashed into her on the B742, between Mossblown and Annbank, in Ayrshire.
She spent 10 days in hospital and had to move her bed into her living room while she was recovering.
Katrina Hastie, who was also struck, suffered a number of bruises but did not need medical attention.
Stakim admitted his guilt over the events on Saturday May 9, 2020.
He pled guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, taking a car without permission, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and driving without insurance.
Prosecutor Martina McGuigan explained: "The accused continued to speed, doing in excess of 30 miles per hour.
"He lost control of the vehicle, carried onto the opposite side of the carriageway, mounted the footpath and collided with Erin Hastie, who was thrown into a nearby hedge as a result of the impact and was seriously injured.
"He struck the witness' Jack Russell dog, which died as a result of its injuries.
He failed to stop and drove off in the direction of Annbank."
The court heard he headed home and told his dad what had happened, then handed himself into Police Scotland.
Sheriff Desmond Leslie was told Stakim was "going too fast and slid across the road" but "panicked and kept driving" after striking Erin.
When he returned to the dock last month Stakim, of Auchinleck, Ayrshire, was jailed for 12 months.
He was also banned from driving for three years and fined £750.
Stakim will have to sit and pass the extended driving test before being allowed to drive again.
