Joyous scenes at Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth as first coronavirus ICU patient discharged

There were joyous scenes yesterday after the first coronavirus patient admitted to an Intensive Care Unit was discharged.

The video above was posted on social media by Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, Co Louth.

It shows the patient being wheeled out as staff give him a warm round of applause.

Heroic hospital workers clad in PPE clapped for the man, who remained in high spirits as he thanked those around them for their work battling the deadly virus.

The video, which has around 210,000 views, was posted with the message: “Some well needed good news! Our first ICU discharge during Covid-19 today.

“Only possible due to the phenomenal work ethic of the team.”
