After years of standing by R. Kelly, one of the embattled R&B singer’s girlfriends stepped forward in November to accuse him of sexual and psychological abuse.
Joycelyn Savage took to Instagram to announce she was breaking her silence and to recount her experiences with Kelly on Patreon, an online platform that requires users to pay for content.
The Patreon account was shut down after the host site could not confirm the user’s identity.
An attorney representing Savage’s family said the statements purportedly issued by Savage on Instagram and Patreon contribute to her family’s concern for her safety.
“We are asking for Law Enforcement to get involved in determining where Joycelyn is and whom is really behind the account that detailed potential crimes,” Georgia attorney Gerald Griggs said in a statement.
Kelly, 52, whose real name is Robert Kelly, is charged in federal court in Illinois with 13 counts around child pornography, enticing a minor into illegal sexual activity and conspiracy to obstruct justice. He also faces federal charges in New York and local cases in Minnesota and Cook County — all of which involve sex crimes against minors.
