A north London man has been charged with a missing midwifery student’s murder, police said.

Ajibola Shogbamimu, 40, was charged just over six weeks after Joy Morgan, a 21-year-old student from Hertfordshire, went missing.

The University of Hertfordshire student was last seen attending a celebration at a church in Ilford on December 27.

Her mother, Carol Morgan, of Battersea, said the family have been left feeling “broken inside”.

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire Police confirmed Shogbamimu, of Fordwych Road, Cricklewood, was charged with murder on Wednesday after he was re-arrested on Tuesday.

He will appear at Hatfield Remand Court on Thursday, the spokeswoman added.

Ms Morgan previously told the Standard Joy was “loved so much and missed so much” by her family.

She said Joy was the middle child of four, loved sewing and cooking and described her disappearance as “completely out of character”.
