While Kimmel's joke about Trump garnered attention, not everyone was on board with the decision to read the former president's social media post live on air. Kimmel revealed that there were attempts to dissuade him from mentioning Trump during the awards show, including from his wife, Molly McNearney, who served as a producer for the event. Despite her reservations, McNearney admitted that Kimmel was confident the joke would be well-received.
McNearney shared that Kimmel's determination to include the Trump joke paid off, with his comedic timing shining through. The couple, who married in 2013, have two children together and Kimmel has two children from a previous marriage.
