Joy as missing dog Molly is found in the Mourne Mountains after 48 hour search

A dog that was missing in the Mourne Mountains for 48 hours has been reunited with its owner.

Springer Spaniel Molly had been out for a walk with her owner Ricky Lyle on Sunday when she disappeared and due to the weather conditions it was very difficult to try and locate her.

Ricky said that he spent hours hoping that she would appear and sadly had to go home without her.

Since then he had been desperately searching for her and put an appeal out on social media to help find Molly.

Following a huge response, members of the public headed to the mountains in order to try and find her, with the Search & Rescue Dog Association Ireland North also lending a hand to find the missing pooch.

After 48 hours of searching, Molly was eventually found safe and well, thanks to the efforts of Aaron from the rescue team and was finally reunited with Ricky.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Ricky said: "Molly has finally been found thanks to the efforts of everyone who has come out to help, particularly the Mourne Mountain Rescue Team and their rangers, I don't know if she would be with us now without them. The work they do is amazing and I am so grateful for everything they have done to find Molly.

"She was still full of beans when we found her and to be honest she could have probably gone for another 10 mile walk because she had so much energy."
