Two lucky Lotto punters in Dublin and Mayo are celebrating after each waking up almost €600,000 richer.
The two players were agonisingly close to sharing the mammoth €19,060,800 jackpot after matching five numbers and the bonus. But despite not claiming the top prize, the two split a cool €1,191,042.
The winner in the capital bought their ticket online on the day of the draw, while the Mayo ticket holder bought theirs at Turlough Stores in Turlough, Castlebar, Co Mayo on Friday.
The winning numbers were 05, 10, 12, 23, 28, 47 and the bonus was 16.
Attracta Barrett, who owns the winning Mayo store with her husband Michael, said: “This is the biggest prize that we have ever sold so we’re all absolutely thrilled. It’s lovely to think that someone in the town might have come into good luck overnight and on a bank holiday weekend as well.
"There will be great excitement around the place today and I’m sure lots of customers will be keen to check their tickets. We wish the winner all the very best with their win!”
A Lotto spokeswoman added: "The Mayo winner is advised to sign the back of their ticket and to keep it in a safe place while a notification to the user’s online account and a separate email has now been sent to the lucky Dublin ticket holder.
"The two Match 5 + Bonus winners from last night’s draw, who both now have tickets worth €595,521 each, should make contact with the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to claim their prizes."
