The Economic Reporters Association has filed a complaint with Phahon Yothin police against a member of its staff, who it says embezzled millions of baht from its bank account, leaving it with only 500 baht left.
The association issued a statement yesterday, saying it allowed its executives on Wednesday to bring a lawsuit against Kusalin Namwat, deputy manager of the association, who oversaw the accounts.
The association told its members in the statement that the money was siphoned off.
The amount was revealed yesterday by a business reporter, who is affiliated with the association, in an interview with the Isra News Agency, saying about 15 to 17 million baht was siphoned from the association's account.
According to its statement yesterday, the association had concluded that Ms Kusalin had committed the wrongdoing.
Association executives sacked her for dishonesty on Wednesday.
