Daniel Kinahan BBC doc journalist 'in safe place with family' following vile threat on life from 'unnamed criminal elements'

The Irish journalist whose life was threatened following an expose on Daniel Kinahan “is in a safe place away with his family”.

BBC reporter Darragh MacIntyre was told by police in the North there was an “unspecified threat” which was made from “unnamed criminal elements” after the Panorama show aired last week.

Daniel Kinahan has been widely named in the Special Criminal Court here as the boss of a crime cartel.

The 43-year-old’s bid to whitewash his past through boxing was the subject of the explosive programme on Monday.

Irish Secretary of the National Union of Journalists, Seamus Dooley told RTE Radio 1’s This week programme: “I’m in touch with him [MacIntyre] and him and his family are safe and sound and well.

“He is extremely grateful for the many messages of solidarity and support.

“He is someone I have known for many years and someone who like the rest of the Panorama team are committed to public service broadcasting and they have produced some stellar journalism.”
