Journalist Glenn Greenwald attacked by Brazilian columnist on live stream

A live-streamed radio broadcast featuring right-leaning Brazilian columnist Augusto Nunes and American journalist Glenn Greenwald resulted in a physical dispute on Thursday, BuzzFeed News reports.

Why it matters: The fistfight showcases "the extraordinary political polarization gripping Latin America's largest country," the Washington Post writes.

Context: Nunes accused Greenwald and his husband, Brazilian politician David Miranda, of being on Twitter all day and of "working as a recipient of stolen messages," instead of taking care of their adopted Brazilian children, according to BuzzFeed.

  • Nunes was referring to leaked messages from Brazilian law enforcement about corruption that were posted on The Intercept, an online news outlet Greenwald writes for.
