A Mexican journalist whose house was fire-bombed has accused the governor of Yucatan state of being responsible for the attack. Manuel Acuña López, a reporter on the local daily Por Esto, escaped with his wife and children when the petrol bomb was thrown into his house on the night of June 21. Lopez says he was warned days before by people claiming to act for the governor to "moderate" his reporting on alleged corruption and nepotism within the state administration. A statement by the press freedom organisation, Reporters Without Borders, demanded that the governor "take effective steps to protect the media." (Via rsf.org)
