Journalist films dirt in filth, sorry first, class aircraft cabin

The footage shot by Owen Thomas on a flight to the Caribbean and posted on YouTube

A journalist disgusted with the cleanliness of the first class cabin on his British Airways flight filmed the dirt and posted the footage online.

The clip, taken by Bloomberg TV presenter Owen Thomas, revealed dirty seats, surfaces and air vents on a flight from London Gatwick to Saint Lucia at the weekend.

As you can see and hear from the YouTube posting, he makes much of the filth being in first class - with return tickets costing £2,700 each - calling it disgusting. He was taking a holiday break with a business partner.

He wrote: “This is what first class in BA is really like. London to Saint Lucia on 17th January 2015. We saved for a trip of a lifetime and this is what we got”.

Thomas’s instant journalism clearly embarrassed British Airways. The London Evening Standards quotes a spokeswoman as saying the service had “fallen short” of its “usual high standards”.

She said: “We have contacted our customer to apologise. We are very sorry that on this occasion we have fallen short of our usual high standards.

“We pride ourselves on delivering a relaxing and pleasant experience in first, and are taking immediate action to address this issue”.
