- The Trump administration is facing criticism for a significant security breach after Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, was inadvertently included in an encrypted messaging group chat discussing plans to strike Houthi militants in Yemen.
- The group chat on the Signal app, initiated by National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, included top officials such as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President JD Vance, and CIA director John Ratcliffe.
- Through the chat, Mr Goldberg became privy to discussions about the planned airstrikes, including concerns about economic impact and European involvement.
- Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth reportedly shared the war plans, including targets and timing, in the chat just two hours before the bombing commenced.
- The White House has acknowledged the incident and is reviewing it.
