Joules Belfast and Banbridge stores at risk as retailer to appoint administrators

British clothing retailer Joules has said it plans to appoint administrators.

It's reported the chain employs around 1,600 staff and has 130 shops across the UK.

This includes two stores in Northern Ireland, one on Arthur Street in Belfast city centre and another at The Boulevard, Banbridge - with around 20 staff employed in total here.

The retailer has said it would file a notice of intention to appoint Interpath Advisory Limited as administrators to the firm and its subsidiaries.

Joules Group PLC said: “The board is taking this action to protect the interests of its creditors.

"In light of the above, the Board announces that it has requested a suspension of trading in the Company's ordinary shares on AIM with effect from 07.30 a.m. today.

"Further announcements will be made in due course."
