Jota return date assessed as Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou hopes to have winger back for Hibs clash

Ange Postecoglou believes Jota could be back available this Monday.

The Portuguese winger has been out of action since he hobbled off against Hearts back in early December.

He returned briefly to parent club Benfica for treatment, but is now back in training ahead of the Premiership clash against Hibs on Monday night.

Celtic remain in discussions with Benfica over a permanent deal for Jota, who can join the Hoops permanently for £6.5million as part of the loan agreement.

And the manager hopes to have the playmaker back as soon as possible.

“It’s good to have him back, he was one of the ones that was out for the medium to long-term, but he’s rehabbed really well and joined in the training today, he’s been training but he joined the routine training,” said Postecoglou.

“We’ll see, he won’t be far off, but if it’s not Monday we expect him over the next couple of weeks to be available – he’s rehabbed really well and he feels pretty good.

"Our main focus is to get him back playing, and playing well and hopefully having a big second half of the season.

“He started really well for us and obviously had the injury set-back, so it’s just great to get him back on the field and performing, and in terms of beyond this season, that will take care of itself at the appropriate time.”
