Jota Celtic injury timeframe revealed as Ange Postecoglou gives update on winger's fitness

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Jota will be out for "a few weeks" with a hamstring injury.

The on-loan Benfica man was sprinting through midfield against Hearts when he pulled up clutching the back of his thigh.

The Portuguese had to be substituted on a nightmare injury night for Celtic that also saw Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh forced off.

And while that pair can expect to return sooner rather than later, Jota faces a more extended spell on the sidelines.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the Dundee United match Postecoglou said: "Stephen Welsh and Anthony Ralston doesn't look like anything serious. Jota will miss a few weeks.

"But that's why we carry a squad. It's great to have Greg (Taylor) back in, he's been working hard on his rehab.

"Equally with Mikey (Johnston).

"He's been working hard in training and today is his opportunity."

Jota arrived at Parkhead from Benfica in the summer with a £6.5million option to buy included in the deal.

The 22-year-old has hit the ground running with seven goals and six assists in 16 appearances so far.

Now though the big question will be whether he'll be fit and available for the Premier Sports Cup final in two weeks' time, or for the visit to Rangers on January 2.
