Jota answers Celtic permanent transfer query as winger aims to stay in the moment

Red-hot Jota insists now is not the time to discuss turning his Celtic loan into a permanent deal.

The 22-year-old is loving life in Glasgow and the Premier Sports Cup finalists have an option on a £6.5m deal with parent club Benfica.

Jota's thrilling displays have supporters clamouring for an extended stay with manager Ange Postecoglou a huge admirer of his impact so far.

And the Portuguese star wants to remain in the here and now after his latest dazzling display against St Johnstone helped Celtic defeat St Johnstone and secure a place in the Hampden showpiece against Hibs.

He said: “A lot of people ask that but my focus is not on that just now.

“My focus is on the team, on our games, on our victories, and the process. I just want to stick with it and be a better person and better player every day.

“In every place you can learn and I’m trying to do that every year and last season I learned a lot of things although we got relegated.

“This season we are fighting and winning and we can definitely do good things throughout the season and it’s just new things to learn and it’s been an amazing journey."
