Josip Juranovic set for Celtic transfer but could be handed Legia Warsaw swansong after manager's airport summit

Legia Warsaw boss boss Czeslaw Michniewicz has revealed Celtic have struck a deal for Josip Juranovic.

But the Croatian full back could star for the Poles in their Europa League showdown with Slavia Prague on Thursday night before jetting into Glasgow.

Michniewicz admitted news of his imminent departure is bittersweet as the player looks to make a step up by moving to the Scottish Premiership.

But he's gutted to be losing his £2.5 million-rated defender with the player being congratulated on his move by team-mates.

Michniewicz admitted it has made it a strange build-up to their match in the Czech Republic with a final decision on his inclusion to be made at the eleventh hour.

The Legia gaffer said: “I know that the clubs have agreed on the transfer and he is still negotiating his terms.

“I had a preliminary talk with Jura at the airport about the game. He is willing to play and we will make the final decision on Thursday.

“How will this affect the team? Certainly there was some confusion. Many people have congratulated him that he has a chance to develop in another club.

“But we also feel sorry that he would not be with us anymore. I’m not surprised he’s going. Jura is a very good player but it’s sad that it will go away.”

Juranovic could be in Glasgow in time for the weekend game against St Mirren but won’t feature and is ineligible for the return against AZ Alkmaar which sets him up for a potential Hoops baptism against Rangers at Ibrox.
