Josip Juranovic sees Union Berlin 'spoiled' as Celtic favourite is given positive feedback

Josip Juranovic is making an instant impact at Union Berlin – and his new manager admits it's left him with plenty of full-back options after Celtic sold to the Bundesliga club.

The Croatian international chose the German side who remain in this year's Europa League over bigger clubs in Europe as he sought to play regularly like he had done during 18 months with Ange Postecoglou's team. He registered an assist in his debut against Werder Bremen and it was a game his new employers won 2-1, while another was racked up in a win against Wolfsburg by the same scoreline on DFB Pokal duty.

Christopher Trimmel is the other option at right-back with Juranovic, while Niko Giesselmann, and Jerome Roussillon make up the options on the left. There's still a period of adjustment that comes with a degree of caution, but manager Urs Fischer says the Celtic favourite leaves him stacked.

He told LigaInsider: "He's slowly adjusting but of course I'm spoiled for choice. On both sides actually. With the duo Giesselmann and Roussillon [left], but also on the right with Trimmel and Juranovic.

"They are doing really well at the moment, we have many players. In the cup game, he had more confidence going forward than in the first game, it was another step in the right direction.” Postecoglou moved quickly to replace Juranovic with the signing of Canadian international Alistair Johnston. Oliver Abildgaard and Moritz Jenz were the other senior players to leave in January.
