Josip Juranovic reveals ruthless Celtic half-time team-talk as he rues 'bad luck' against Shakhtar

Josip Juranovic has lifted the lid on Celtic's half time team talk in their 1-1 Champions League stalemate with Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.

The Hoops began the game on top and took the lead through Reo Hatate's deflected effort after just 10 minutes. But Mykhaylo Mudryk struck back before half time with a well-worked equaliser as the Ukrainian side ended the first 45 in the ascendancy.

Ange Postecoglou made a tactical tweak at the break, bringing on Daizen Maeda in place of Sead Haksabanovic which changed the momentum in favour of the Premiership champions. And he told Celtic TV just what his manager said to spark a buoyant second half performance where his side spurred multiple chances to leave Warsaw with all three points.

"(He said) we need to leave everything. This is Champions League the biggest stage in football and we don't have too many chances to be here," said Juranovic.

The Croatian played his part in the opening goal starting a blistering counter-attack to find Haksabanovic whose threaded pass found the path of Hatate who fired into the net via Artem Bondarenko. And Celtic were rueing missed opportunities with Giorgos Giakoumakis, Maeda and Matt O'Riley all passing up gilt-edge moments in front of goal.

Juranovic also believes there was a sense of his side being 'unlucky' as he knows they regularly score those chance at domestic level. He added: "I think that we had so many chances.

"Usually, especially in our championship, we score that. Today was a little bit of bad luck but we are looking forward to the next game. I think we have shown that we need to be in the Champions League and that's it."
