Josip Juranovic reveals Celtic sell from Artur Boruc that convinced him to sign for Ange Postecoglou

New Celtic star Josip Juranovic insists he signed because of Artur Boruc and revealed how the “Holy Goalie” sold the club to him.

The right back penned a five-year deal last week after the Hoops paid £2.5million to tempt him away from Legia Warsaw in Poland.

He and Boruc were teammates at Legia and there was no-one better to fill Juranovic on what what life is like at Parkhead.

The Croatian told Celtic TV: “He said that it was a good opportunity for me on a great stage with a big club. Everything is great and also because of him is why I’m here.”

The pair embraced after Juranovic’s last game for Warsaw - a 2-2 Europa League draw against Slavia Prague.

And the 26-year-old marked the occasion with a stunning strike to pout his team ahead and sign off from the club in style.

He hopes to enjoy more moments like that in green and white, but admits his goal celebration needs plenty of work.

He explained: “It was a great moment to finish on. I received the ball on halfway and saw the space and ran into it.

“After five seconds I was thinking ‘maybe I’ll have a shot’. At first I didn’t believe I’d scored the goal but then after another five seconds I was happy.

“You can see my celebration is a total disaster! But for me it was a very good moment and I hope I can do it again for Celtic.”

As well as heeding Boruc’s advise, Jurnaovic did his own homework on the Hoops and was impressed by what he saw in previous games and believes he’ll fit right into Ange Postecoglou ’s intense, attacking style.

He added: “I watched four games and they looked really good. I liked it because it’s attacking football and every player is in the opponent’s half of the pitch.”

Juranovic is ineligible for tomorrow's meeting with AZ Alkmaar but could make his Premiership debut in the first Ild-Form clash of the season against Rangers on Sunday.
