Josip Juranovic in Celtic transfer link as Croatian right-back could hold green list trump card

Josip Juranovic is reportedly another right-back target for Celtic as the Parkhead club look to fix a growing problem position.

Ange Postecoglou is searching far and wide for a first choice in the role with only Anthony Ralston to call upon for Wednesday night's Champions League clash at Midtjylland.

Reports in Belgium suggest he's close to sealing a move for Royal Antwerp's Aurelio Buta with a €3.5m fee said to now be agreed between the Flemish club and the Hoops.

Manchester City youngster Yan Couto is another name mentioned but Sky Sports have now linked Postecoglou to Legia Warsaw's Croatian defender Juranovic.

Fiorentina and Spartak Moscow are also interested in the Croatia internationalist.

He's been capped 10 times – even turning out against Scotland at Hampden Park in Euro 2020 – and signings from his country have a potential trump card over other targets.

While he is currently playing for Legia in the Polish Ekstraklasa, arrivals from Croatia into Scotland do not have to quarantine unlike new signings Kyogo Furuhashi and Carl Starfelt in recent weeks.

It could also explain why the club have been linked to other targets in the country, such as Gorica winger Kristijan Lovric.

Postecoglou recently spoke of his frustration at how difficult it is to get signings over the line while adhering to Covid protocols.
