Celtic’s first offer for Josip Juranovic has been rejected, according to reports in Croatia.
The right back is high on Ange Postecoglou ’s list of transfer targets and the Daily Record reported that talks with the defender had been reopened.
But now Index.HR claims that an opening offer of £2.3million has been rejected by Polish outfit Legia Warsaw.
It’s expected that Celtic will go back in with more cash for the 26-year-old, but won’t go above £3million.
Legia believe he is worth significantly more however, and are content to hold on to the Croatian international beyond the end of this transfer window if their valuation is not met.
Postecoglou is keen to land a first choice right back, having relied on Anthony Ralston so far this season.
The academy graduate hasn’t let his team down but a more established option is sought for the right hand side of defence.
Full backs are key for how Postecoglou wants to play, and while Greg Taylor is first choice on the left, a number of targets have been identified for the other flank.
Royal Antwerp’s Aurelio Bute was thought to be close to agreeing a deal but negotiations have stalled on that front, while Manchester City ’s Yan Couto won’t be making the move to the Scottish Premiership.
The Hoops are thought to be confident of getting Juranovic in, but a heftier transfer fee will be required before Legia are willing to do business.
