Josip Juranovic and the 2 Celtic touches of class behind Union Berlin transfer as they vow 'we'll look after him'

Union Berlin have sent Celtic a heartfelt message over the transfer of Josip Juranovic, promising to "look after" their new signing from Parkhead. And they've given two examples of touches of class from their new Croatian that could make him an instant fan favourite in Germany.

Juranovic endeared himself to Celtic fans after moving from Legia Warsaw 18 months ago, and he leaves for a fee which could rise to £10million - roughly quadruple what they paid for him in 2021. He had some big moments in green and white, playing a big part in their Double win last season and playing every minute of their Champions League group campaign, while his impressive World Cup with Croatia put him on the map of some of Europe's top clubs.

His touching moment with Daizen Maeda, consoling his Celtic teammate after Croatia eliminated Japan, captured hearts in Glasgow and beyond and that's not gone unnoticed by new club Union. They've promised to "look after" him as they rolled out the red carpet for their new signing who could eclipse their club record transfer.

They wrote: "What seems to be unanimous is that apart from the fact he can play, there's nobody with a bad word about him. Whether it's Alistair Johnston: 'No matter what’s been going on behind the scenes, he’s a great guy. He has taken me under his wing which has been really nice of him.'

"Or one of those few glimmers of hope out of the World Cup when he went over to console his friend and teammate Daizen Maeda after Croatia beat Japan. He didn't have to, it was just the human thing to do.

"And the love the Celtic fans have shown him over the last few days is overwhelming. Not all players get that, and it's testament to the man. I hope you know we'll look after him. Eisern!"
