Josie Gibson shares sweet post as she's announced as Phil's This Morning replacement

Josie Gibson has shared a sweet post with son Reggie after it was announced she will be Phillip Schofield’s replacement on This Morning.

The 38-year-old is set to join Holly Willoughby to front the programme from Monday in a new look for the ITV show.

News Josie was taking over was confirmed by This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary at the end of today’s show.

An hour after her new job was revealed, Josie posted a video on a horse and carriage ride with her four-year-old son.

Wearing 70s-style sunglasses and an olive green dress with denim jacket over the top, Josie smiled to the camera as she cuddled a giggling Reggie.

The Terry Bush song Maybe Tomorrow, theme tune to TV show The Littlest Hobo, played over the top.

Former Big Brother star Josie, who won the show back in 2010, has been a regular face on This Morning since 2019.

Since then she has occasionally stepped in when one of the other main presenters was off, but her new role is a huge step up for the much-loved TV star.

Her sunny attitude and broad Bristolian accent has been a hit with viewers from the start and many had called for Josie to be promoted before now.

She is already best pals with Alison Hammond on the show and recently revealed they spend Christmases together.

Josie shared it was Alison who built her confidence up on the show telling New magazine: “Even before I’d presented the main show on This Morning, if we would go into the main show she’d say to put me on open talkback – where you can hear the whole gallery talking – to practise.

“I’d say ‘I don’t want to do that!’ and she’d say, ‘You’re doing it. If you don’t push yourself, you’re never going to get further.”

Josie and Holly are the new Holly and Phil on This Morning as of Monday (ITV)

Her new co-host Holly is currently on holiday in Portugal after an extended half-term break which saw her take two weeks off the show as the scandal around Phillip unfolded.

So far, she has remained tight-lipped on what has gone on behind the scenes with her former best pal.

The only time she has broken her silence was on May 27 when she shared a written post on her Instagram stories.

She told her 8.3 million followers she was ‘hurt’ Phillip hadn’t been honest with her about his affair with a much younger male ITV colleague, which says was 'unwise, but not illegal'.

It said: "It's taken time to process yesterday's news.

"When reports of this relationship first surfaced, I asked Phil directly if this was true and was told it was not.

"It's been very hurtful to now find out that this was a lie. Holly."

Phillip has since quit working with ITV, been dropped by his agent and admitted his 40-year TV career is over.

The 61-year-old said he will comply with an external review conducted by ITV into the facts surrounding his affair, which took place when he was in his 50s and the man was around 20.
