Joshua Langford listed as #3 in Julius Erving award preseason rankings

It is that time of the year again: time for preseason rankings and projections for the NCAA men’s basketball awards for the upcoming season. First up, Andy Katz from NCAA.com has revealed his rankings for the 2019-20’s Julius Erving award. The award is given to the top small forward in the NCAA, and Andy Katz listed Michigan State guard/forward Joshua Langford at #3 on his list.

This is interesting because I would consider Langford to be more of a guard, but with Rocket Watts in the mix and the departure of Nick Ward, Langford could be spending most of his time in the small forward position if Watts does earn a starting guard position.

Here is what Katz had to say about his #3 ranking:

Langford and Aaron Henry will be interchangeable playing both big guard/wings for the Spartans. Langford averaged 15 points per game before a foot injury shelved him in late December. He returns as one of the top players in the Big Ten.

Jordan Nwora Jr. is the #1 ranked player on Katz’s rankings. Rui Hachimora out of Gonzaga won the award last year.
