Joshua Langford announces retirement from basketball, won’t play professionally

Joshua Langford, who has been on the Spartans basketball team since 2016 has officially announced his retirement from basketball and won’t pursue a professional career. This comes as a little of a surprise as there was still a possibility that he could’ve played overseas. Langford has battled foot injuries the past three years.

Langford averaged 10.1 points per game, 3.0 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists per game over his four seasons at Michigan State. Langford also became the fourth different recruit from the class of 2016 to score over 1,000 points over his career at Michigan State. Langford was also a career 39% three-point shooter.

Langford and Michigan State posted statements about Langford’s decision to retire from basketball. Langford noted that “my college experience wasn’t what I imagined it to be, but it exceeded all of my expectations and I wouldn’t change it for anything.” He also encouraged others to step out of there comfort zone and to not be afraid to take that next step in your life.
