Joshua Henry to play Aaron Burr in 'Hamilton' in Chicago

CHICAGO _ Joshua Henry, a Broadway performer acclaimed for his role in "The Scottsboro Boys," will play Aaron Burr in this fall's Chicago production of "Hamilton," it was announced Monday. Henry made his Broadway debut in "In the Heights," and appeared most recently in "Shuffle Along."

The producers of the hit musical announced the remainder of the casting of the show Monday morning, including the role of George Washington, to be played in Chicago by Jonathan Kirkland. Other performers announced Monday include Sam Aberman, Jose Amore, Amber Ardolino, Remmie Bourgeois, Chloe Campbell, Joseph Chaikin, Carl Clemons-Hopkins, John Michael Fiumara, Jean Godsend Floradin, Aaron Gordon, Jin Ha, Holly James, Malik Kitchen, Colby Lewis, Dashi Mitchell, Justice Moore, Samantha Pollino, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Gabriella Sorrentino and Aubin Wise.

The other principal roles for the Chicago cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda's hip-hop musical about the Founding Fathers were announced July 13.

The lead role of Alexander Hamilton will be played here by Miguel Cervantes, the character Angelica Schuyler by Karen Olivo, and King George III by Alexander Gemignani. Former "American Idol" contestant Ari Afsar is Eliza Hamilton and Chris Lee is Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson. Other cast members include Joseph Morales (Alexander Hamilton alternate), Jose Ramos (John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton), Wallace Smith (Hercules Mulligan/James Madison) and Samantha Marie Ware (Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds).

"Hamilton" begins performances Sept. 27 at The PrivateBank Theatre, 18 W. Monroe St.
