Josh Warrington will wear the name of Rob Burrow on his shorts when he returns to the ring for a featherweight contest with Mexican Mauricio Lara.
The 30-year-old 'Leeds Warrior' vacated his IBF featherweight title earlier this year and is in a non title fight at Wembley Arena as he returns after 16 months out of action.
Warrington has made it a tradition to have Leeds legends walk him to the ring for his fights with the likes of Rhinos great Jamie Peacock and Leeds United captain Liam Cooper having had that honour in the past.
For his return to action the now former world champion had hoped to have another Rhinos great and rugby league legend Rob Burrow ringside with him.
Covid regulations mean that is not possible but Warrington will have Burrow with him in spirit as well as having his name etched on his shorts for the fight.
Writing on instagram he said: "Many of you know, it's become tradition I share the ring walk with a Leeds Legend.
"There was only ever going to be one man for my next fight if restrictions would have allowed. I am honoured and extremely privileged to wear the Inspired by 7 logo on my shorts.
"MBE Rob Burrow you truly are an inspiration to us all, keep strong and we're all supporting you and @mndassoc "
Warrington puts his unbeaten record on the line when he faces Lara behind-closed-doors at Wembley Arena on Saturday.
Lara is something of a fight veteran already despite his relatively tender age of just 22.
He has 23 fights under his belt (21 of them delivering victories) and he is currently on a 10-bout winning streak.
