Josh Warrington open to Carl Frampton rematch, but there's a catch

Josh Warrington says he is open to a rematch with Carl Frampton, but only if the Belfast boxer has a world title.

Warrington beat Frampton in a thrilling battle last December to retain his IBF featherweight belt.

The Leeds man will make the third defence of that title against Sofiane Takoucht this weekend.

After that Warrington will target a unification clash, but another showdown with Frampton is also on the 29-year-old's radar.

Warrington’s dad and trainer Sean O’Hagan said: “I’d go for that one. It’s business and we have to consider all options. I think Josh wants it for a unification fight.”

Frampton hasn't fought since losing to Warrington 10 months ago, but will finally return to action on November 30 in Las Vegas.

Carl Frampton reveals injury

An opponent has yet to be confirmed, but promoter Frank Warren says he is confident Frampton can go on and win another world title in 2020.

Warren recently said: "He may have lost that night but he showed what a warrior he is and as soon as he told me he wanted to fight on I knew the former super-bantamweight and featherweight champion could win another world title.

"Now he can prove that in 2020 with the help of us, Top Rank and ESPN."
