Josh Warrington open to Carl Frampton rematch - but not until Northern Irishman wins world title

Josh Warrington is open to a rematch with Carl Frampton - but not until the Northern Irishman wins a world title of his own.

Yorkshireman Warrington beat Frampton in an epic in December last year to retain his IBF featherweight belt.

The 28-year-old will make his third defence of the title against Frenchman Sofiane Takoucht in Leeds on Friday.

And while he is desperate to land a unification bout, he has not ruled out a rematch with Frampton, but wants the former two-weight world champ to recapture a title first.

Warrington’s dad and trainer Sean O’Hagan said: “I’d go for that one. It’s business and we have to consider all options.

“I think Josh wants it to be for a unification fight.”

WBC and IBF welterweight king Errol Spence Jr was seriously injured in a high-speed car accident in the early hours of Thursday morning when his Ferrari flipped 'multiple times'.

He was taken into intensive care but his injuries are not understood to be life threatening.

Elsewhere, Tyson Fury is set to confirm he will face Braun Strowman in the WWE in Saudi Arabia on October 31.

The bout will be confirmed at a press conference in Las Vegas.

Fury has dipped his toe into the WWE in a bid to boost his profile Stateside ahead of his rematch against WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder next year.
