Josh Sweat hoping to find a place in the Eagles DL rotation

Josh Sweat has the name and the legacy as a former Florida State Seminole, and he’s reached a defining point in his NFL career. Sweat got some run with the Eagles last season, playing 68 defensive snaps before finishing the season on IR. With Michael Bennett and Chris Long have moved on, there’s an opportunity for playing time at defensive end, and Sweat wants in on the action.

The Eagles have expectations for Sweat and as he told the Inquirer.com, he knows what’s expected of him at this point in his career.

“It’s implied,” Sweat said this past week. “I know. I don’t need nobody to tell me. But, yeah, it’s definitely implied. You just feel it in the atmosphere. But I’m ready to live up to it.”

“There’s no pressure, but at the same time, there is pressure,” Sweat said with a laugh.

Sweat will compete for snaps with the returning Derek Barnett, pass rush demon Brandon Graham and the returning Vinny Curry. With the Eagles utilizing a rotation on the line, Sweat will get his chances to shine.
