Josh Rosen talk gets a laugh from Jay Gruden

If the Washington Redskins have an interest in trading for Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen, Jay Gruden isn’t offering up any hints.

In serious need of help at quarterback and with speculation floating around that the Cardinals might trade last year’s first-round pick, Gruden was naturally asked about Rosen at the league meetings.

From NBC Sports Washington’s JP Finlay:

“We scouted Josh for sure,” Gruden said. “Josh is a good football player, but he’s not on our team, so no reason to talk about him, is there?” Asked what if Rosen became available, Gruden again laughed it off.

“Well, he’s not available. If Tom Brady becomes available, maybe we should talk to him too.”

Funny, except maybe not. Rosen is the hottest point of speculation out there right now as Kyler Murray looks good enough to be the draft’s top overall pick.

Sitting in the middle of the first round, the Redskins might not have a shot at a quarterback prospect they like without a trade up, anyway.

So indeed, there is a reason to talk about Rosen on the off chance he’s available. But as expected, Gruden isn’t going to say much other than he did his due diligence before last year’s draft.
