Josh Norman wants you to know that he’s more than just a football player

There’s more to Josh Norman than the eye can see. A lot more.

While he has garnered a lot of fame and attention in the NFL for his dust-ups on the field with the likes of Odell Beckham Jr. and Taylor Lewan, Norman wants fans to know that his braggadocious nature doesn’t define him.

“[They say], ‘He’s on the field, he’s playing football, he’s always in it with someone,’” Norman said, via Redskins.com. “But if you pull back layers, you really don’t know me, you really don’t.”

Despite what you may think, Norman doesn’t walk around all day with a chip on his shoulder, looking for someone to argue with. He doesn’t try to pick a fight with every person he sees, rather he looks to help them.

This past offseason, Norman traveled the world and went on numerous trips and charitable endeavors in attempts to spread good and positivity, while also convincing the world at large that he is more than just a football player.

“A lot of people see me as a controversial guy,” Norman said. “And the thing is once you see all the stuff that I do, that I’m posting, that I put up, that I go out and I serve others, that is who I really am. I can’t try to hide or try to run from that…I’m a server like I said.”

Whether it was taking loads of clean water to Flint, Mich., or visiting both the Afghanistan Embassy and Mexican border, throughout the offseason Norman spent his time learning about the struggles of people who get looked past in the world. He still has a couple more trips on his calendar this summer, but the message he set out to communicate has been received—Norman is a not a bad guy; he’s just passionate and looking to spread goodness.
