Josh Norman bashes the media, calls Dak Prescott ‘a great quarterback’

Josh Norman wants you to stop taking his words out of context. He’s tired of having his name plastered on headlines, often talking bad about opposing players.

Mainly, he wants to stop being made the bad guy.

After the Washington Redskins 31-21 loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Norman went on an epic three-minute rant while talking to the media, explaining that he’s tired of having his words misconstrued and changed over the course of time, always making him out to be the braggadocious veteran who is quick to cut down his competition. He says that’s not the case.

In the week leading up to the game against Dallas, Norman’s name was consistently in headlines after he made some comments about Dak Prescott, saying that he was overrated, to put it simply.

”Newspapers and websites across the country picked up those comments and in many cases used a truncated form of the full quote in headlines and tweets,” Norman said, via NBC Sports Washington.

The quote that fired up the media last week was made when Norman offered up a comment on Prescott’s Week1 performance against the New York Giants — he threw for four touchdowns with a perfect passer rating. Norman seemed less than impressed.

“You stand back there in the pocket all day and go through your first, second and third reads and come back to your first one, OK, cool. Anybody can do that,” Norman said a week ago.

Now, he’s back-tracking on those words and asking for them not to be construed. On Sunday, Prescott threw for three touchdowns and led Norman into getting torched by Devin Smith for a 51-yard touchdown in the first half.

“That’s the reason why athletes, entertainers, don’t even want to [expletive] with you guys to be 100 with you,” Norman said. “It’s no need. [Prescott is] my brother. That’s a kin . He’s a great quarterback. All these guys that we play are. I just wish that media would respect that and understand and don’t try to twist people the best opportunity, the chance to get out there. It just really sucks when that happens, man. It really does.”

This isn’t the first time that Norman has chastised the media for taking his words out of context, and it won’t be the last time, either. With his braggadocious style and sharp tongue, Norman is always good for a quote in the locker room. Unfortunately for all, sometimes those quotes come back to bite him.
