Josh McPake set for Rangers exit as English League Two club win loan transfer race for promising talent

Rangers youngster Josh McPake is set to sign for Harrogate Town when the January transfer window opens.

The English League Two outfit have agreed terms with the Scottish league leaders for a loan for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old travelled south to the EnviroVent Stadium to watch Harrogate’s clash with Carlisle United.

Forest Green Rovers and Salford City are also keen to land McPake but he looks set to join the English League new boys in their first season in the senior ranks.

Manager Simon Weaver had a long chat with Ibrox youngster McPake and his family yesterday and is hopeful he has won the fight.

Weaver has already raided Scotland to sign Calvin Miller after his release from Celtic in the summer.

The winger was on-loan at Morton in the first half of the season and did well under David Hopkin before he stepped down.

Rangers are now keen to get their talented teenager playing at a higher level to continue his development.

The Scotland under-19 cap previously had a loan at Dundee last season but that was wrecked by injury.
