Carlisle United are looking to win the fight to land Rangers youngster Josh McPake on loan.
The Cumbrian side are set to make contact with the Premiership champions to see if they can get a deal done for the second half of the season.
Carlisle boss Keith Millen is keen to land the winger and believes he can help push his team up the League Two table.
They want to get a quick deal done so they can get McPake in as soon as his loan deal at Morecambe is terminated at the start of next month.
The winger has made just three starts in his current loan spell and will return to Rangers when the window opens.
The 20-year-old is also wanted by a string of other English League Two outfits including Tranmere Rovers, Barrow, Hartlepool and Oldham Athletic but Carlisle are hoping they can convince him to move to Brunton Park.
They hope he can make a similar impact as he made at Harrogate Town last year when he helped them to lift the English Football League Trophy.
McPake moved to Morecambe in the summer but his time there has been disrupted by injury.
