Josh McPake generates Rangers transfer buzz as English Championship clubs circle for teenager

Rangers loanee Josh McPake is attracting interest from the English Championship.

The winger is currently impressing on loan at Harrogate Town.

The 19-year-old’s stellar form has seen both Queens Park Rangers and Bristol City scout him in recent weeks.

McPake is still under contract at Rangers and is expected to return to Ibrox in the summer.

Rangers director of football Ross Wilson and his scouting staff have been delighted with the way he has been progressing with the English League Two new boys.

The Scotland Under-19 international is highly rated at Ibrox and the club hierarchy think long-term he can become a first-team regular.

He previously spent time on loan at Scottish Championship sides Dundee and Greenock Morton and decided not to extend his spell at Cappielow earlier this season in order to make the switch south in January.

Harrogate were promoted into the Football League for the first time in their history last season and were expected to face a struggle to stay in League Two.

But they sit comfortably mid-table and have an outside chance of making the promotion playoffs as McPake plays a key role with two goals in 14 appearances since joining.
